The global agri-biotech landscape is at a critical turning point. The multiple challenges posed by climate change, population growth, and rising food insecurity require not just innovations but also complementary commitment and action toward informed discussion and responsible adoption.

While ISAAA has been the most authoritative source of data on biotech crop adoption rates and insights, the organization has also played the role of bridging the gap between scientific innovation and public acceptance.

In 2025, ISAAA’s contributions underscore that when stakeholders have access to transparent, peer-reviewed, and easily digestible data, the conversation shifts from apprehension to evidence-based optimism. This is evident through the following milestones:

  • Maintained high-impact digital platforms, including the Gene-Edited Animal Database and the GM Approval Database, which generated over 1.83 million monthly views with a 98% user helpfulness rating.
  • Distributed the Biotech Updates newsletter to nearly 20,000 global subscribers (1.69M+ views) with multi-language translations, while publishing educational youth media such as Double Helix magazine and a localized climate change storybook that reached 11,000+ local learners.
  • Convened over 100 judicial and regulatory members to advocate for risk-based frameworks and partnered with key organizations to help revise the Philippines' 20-year-old Risk Assessment Report (RAR) form to align with international standards.
  • Co-hosted the ASEAN GMFNet meeting to harmonize GMO testing and biosafety guidelines across member states and contributed to the development of molecular genetics and biosafety materials for the Philippine secondary school curriculum.
  • Trained a cohort of regional biotech players at the 8th Asian Short Course on Agribiotechnology, Biosafety Regulation, and Communication (ASCA2025) with 13 partner organizations and engaged over 40 media practitioners to support informed biotechnology reporting.

“Marking 34 years of impact, ISAAA celebrates the continued support of our partners and donors. Their trust enables us to strategize and serve as an effective global channel for delivering knowledge on innovative agricultural and food solutions,” said Dr. Rhodora Romero-Aldemita, ISAAA Executive Director.

ISAAA continues its commitment to anchoring biotech discourse in evidence, safety, and sustainability to ensure that current innovations become valuable solutions for a food-secure future.
